Kazunori Yamauchi has reiterated his belief that gamers will have their hands on a copy of Gran Turismo 5 before Christmas.

The game, which has been in development for the past five years, was penned for release on November 2 before suffering a delay. Since then, reports have hit claiming the game is unlikely to see the light of day in 2010 – despite its gold status being confirmed. Yamauchi still believes it will be on shelves before December 25, though.

A simple “I think so.” was the answer from the series creator, in reply to Autoweek’s question “Will we be playing it by Christmas?” before which he stated the reason behind the delay was to “really to adjust it so it would be perfect.”

The game is launching exclusively for PlayStation 3, featuring some mind-numbingly gorgeous visuals and all the simulation gameplay you could ever want.
