EA CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed Battlefield 3 will be launching sometime in November as the firm looks to hunt down the popular Call of Duty franchise.
Activision is expected to launch the next Call of Duty title, still officially unannounced, in November. Whatever it is, Riccitiello says Battlefield 3 is “designed to take that game down."
"This November, we're launching Battlefield 3. It's going up against the next Call of Duty, which is presently the number one game in the game industry," he said, whilst speaking at the New York City-based Ad Age Digital Conference (via IGN). "A game that last year did $400 million dollars in revenue on day one. This game [Battlefield 3] is designed to take that game down."
Whilst Battlefield 3 is looking to be 2011’s top shooter, we are still unaware of what Activision is cooking within the Call of Duty world. There’s no reason for them to lack confidence at this point though – take a look at the three (one, two, three) mind-blowing gameplay videos released for the game.
