EA has released new details, screens and a video about their key change in FIFA 12, the Impact Engine.
After two years in development EA's new physics engine aims to give "an infinite variety of natural and believable outcomes in every contact" with the physicality of players proving more important than ever.
“The transformation FIFA 12 has undergone is revolutionary not evolutionary,” said Kaz Makita, Executive Producer for the FIFA franchise. “To create the best and most authentic FIFA game ever, we needed new technology to deliver on our vision. Fans will see, and more importantly feel, the significance of the Player Impact Engine immediately.”
Pro Player Intelligence is another evolution being brought to the series where CPU controlled players have been "infused with self-awareness and aptitude, enabling them to make decisions based on their own skills as well as the strengths and attributes of their teammates." Moreover, players who possess exceptional vision, for example, will see opportunities for through balls that other players won’t, with the likes of Sneijder being easily able to pick out players at a distance.
