A sequel to the critically acclaimed Far Cry 2 was confirmed last year with Ubisoft saying the game was "still at the preliminary stages." of development. Since then we haven't heard a lot from Ubi regarding the game, until now.

The guys over at Official PlayStation Magazine (Christmas 2009, UK Issue 039) spoke to Kevin Shortt, who has been working on James Cameron's Avatar The Game, and was asked him if he himself is working on the next title in the Far Cry series;

"No I'm not. But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting"

There's no word on when the game will see the light of day but our best guess is late 2010. We'll keep you posted on any news Far Cry.

Far Cry orignial was excellent, a shining example of FPS. Far Cry 2 was an even bigger open world but boring - I lost interest as traversing the terrain took too long and their was not enough action. What there was repetitive. I hope if there is a Far Cry 3 it goes back to the roots of the original and the maps are not as big as Far Cry2. Otherwise I will pass on this quick.
