It has emerged that, before killing the franchise altogether last year, Activision tasked Vicarious Visions to 'reinvent' Guitar Hero.

The eagle-eyed has highlighted of a former Vicarious sound engineer who, in February 2011, stated to be "one of five people selected by Activision to transfer to Vicarious Visions to help redesign of Guitar Hero."

At the time he added: "Sadly, last week, Activision brought all Guitar Hero development to an end. I’m proud to have been an original part of such a celebrated game."

Guitar Hero was axed by Activision due to "continued declines in the music genre." It was accompanied by United Front’s True Crime: Hong Kong, which has since been picked up by Square Enix and is now under the name of Sleeping Dogs.
