Claimed documents from US retailer GameStop posted online may reveal release dates for hotly anticipated titles including Batman: Arkham City, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Tomb Raider.
Images of the lists, consisting of two pages, were uploaded by a user of a Tomb Raider forum and show both confirmed and unannounced release dates for a range of titles. Even if legit, many will be placeholder or speculative dates chosen by the retailer, but there are a few 2011 dates that will interest for sure:
- Batman: Arkham City – September 18, 2011
- Dead Rising 2: Off the Record – September 30, 2011
- Binary Domain – November 2, 2011
- Anarchy Reigns – November 9, 2011
- Aliens: Colonial Marines – November 12, 2011
- Need for Speed: Run – November 15, 2011
- Tomb Raider – December 13, 2011
- Spider-Man: Edge of Time – December 31, 2011
- Warhammer 40K: Space Marine – December 31, 2011
- X-Men Destiny – December 31, 2011
Anything following the 2011 dates is extremely likely to have been set as a placeholder, especially with Metal Gear Solid: Rising – first announced at E3 2009 – down for a surprising November 11, 2012 release.
We would also note that the document, said to have been printed just yesterday, makes a mistake in listing Mass Effect 3 for November 9, 2011 – a game delayed into the first quarter of 2012 earlier this month.
Legit or not, we will find out eventually.
