EA Games has revealed it is considering the closure of Bright Light Studios, the Guildford studio behind the latest Harry Potter video game titles.

A formal consultation process between EA and Bright Light employees regarding the potential closure has begun, it was revealed in a statement to Gamasutra.

"The proposed changes will help centralize development on future projects, reduce development costs and will allow for better knowledge and talent sharing within the organization," the statement continues.”

A closure for the studio would leave the video game giant with just one UK developer in the form of Criterion Games. EA has however said that any employees affected would be considered relocation, insisting "the UK is a vital center of game development for EA and we intend to maintain a strong presence here."
