United Front Games has confirmed it has let a number of staff go after the cancellation of True Crime: Hong Kong earlier this month.
As pointed out by Joystiq, the LinkedIn shows that at least 25 members of staff were affected, and a representative for the company later issued a statement to the site confirming the situation.
"Due to the fact that True Crime is no longer in production, a number of roles have been made redundant which unfortunately, has led to a reduction in staff. UFG is still very much open for business and we will continue to ship top games.”
A message regarding True Crime: Hong Kong’s cancellation has also been posted on the UFG website homepage, reading, “We are sorry we did not get a chance to complete this project with Activision, but we understand why. We are both committed to doing quality games and nothing less.
“Maybe we will have a chance to work together in the future, but in the meantime we are setting our creative sights on a different horizon.”
The studio was formed back in 2007, with its first and only release coming in May last year with the PlayStation exclusive, ModNation Racers.
