It’s been revealed that the upcoming first-person shooter reimagining of classic Bullfrog Production tactical shooter Syndicate will not make use of the controversial Online Pass system.

Speaking to Eurogamer, EA Partners executive producer Jeff Gamon said the publisher wants “as little resistance or barriers to entry as possible.”

He added: "The co-op is equal billing in this. We wanted everyone who owns a copy of the game to have access to the entire product."

EA has said it aims to include the Online Pass system with all of its titles. Fortunately, though, that excludes those published by its EA Partners arm.

Syndicate hits PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on February 21 and February 24 across North America and Europe. Check out Starbreeze’s recent briefing on the game’s four-player co-op mode.
