The single-player campaign featured in upcoming first-person shooter Homefront can last just five hours long when played by "expert players", developer Kaos Studios has revealed.
“We've done a lot of focus testing on the game," said studio creative director and general manager David Votypka, when speaking to Eurogamer. "We've seen really expert players race through it pretty quickly – five hours, a little less. We've seen players take eight to 10 hours to play it. So it's a range, there. It depends who you ask."
Homefront sees a weakened United States invaded by Korean forces in 2027. Gamers will then jump into the boots of a Resistance fighter, in a bid to reclaim the country.
Kaos and publisher THQ are hoping for the game to compete with the likes of Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Medal of Honor – all have single-player campaigns of a similar length.
"It's competitive with the lengths of the other top shooters out there right now, especially the ones with the big multiplayer components," Votypka added. "Where there's a lot of game time in the multiplayer, the single-player doesn't tend to be 12, 15, 20 hours long. The Mass Effects, those types of games where it's all about the single-player, then they put all their time and content into that."
The game launches for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 15 in North America and March 18 in Europe.
