Playdead’s black and white downloadable darling Limbo has sold over one million copies worldwide, allowing the studio to buy itself back from investors to become fully independent once again.

The platformer launched on Xbox Live in July last year, with an Xbox 360 disc version following in April this year. It’s also hit the PlayStation Network and Steam since.

"We are grateful to everyone who supported us over the past few years, and look forward to forging new partnerships that will both let us reach new heights as a studio and give our director, Arnt Jensen, room to grow creatively,” said Playdead CEO Dino Patti in a statement.

Earlier this month Patti spoke a little of the Danish studio’s next project, which is still officially unannounced.
