Rumour: Cloud saving for games coming to PS3

are reporting that they have been told of a forthcoming cloud-storage based service for game saves is planned for the next PlayStation 3 firmware update.
Sony plan to call the service "Online Saving" and will roll it out as part of firmware 3.60 with the service being rolled out to only PlayStation Plus subscribers. They are reported to have said the service "will allow save data with the copy prohibited attribute to be copied into the online storage," and leave the option up to developers.
Many have had great problems with being unable to back-up copy protected saves on PS3 and should a hardware failure occur where those saves are lost this would certainly be a welcome addition to the features of PlayStation Plus.
