Rumour: Sony to unveil new PlayStation next year

Despite SCEA president Jack Tretton stating there won’t be any official talk of a new PlayStation console “for quite some time,” it’s rumoured we’ll see Sony unveil its new piece of home gaming hardware next year.
IndustryGamers cites industry sources “at a top developer” who claim the firm is looking to unveil the new platform, expected to be titled PlayStation 4, sometime next year. This follows on from recent whispers that Microsoft is to show its Xbox 360 successor to the public for the first time within the next 12 months, possibly at E3 2012, which were denied shortly afterwards.
Many are expecting a price cut for the PlayStation 3 sometime later this year, and if Sony chooses to do so, you can bet your DualShock this speculation will be fuelled.
