Speculation over the weekend – accompanied with some potential evidence – claims Sony has chosen ‘PlayStation Vita’ as the final, official name for the NGP.
Many gamers were expecting the platform holder to continue with the PlayStation Portable (PSP) name which first launched in 2004. According to an anonymous source of GamesPundit though, the handheld device will be unveiled as the PlayStation Vita during Sony’s five-hour E3 conference in Los Angeles next month – ‘vita’ meaning ‘life’ in Latin and Italian.
The claim is backed up with images from Mega Rock Blog, which are said to show the NGP model with a PS Vita logo inside an E3 proof sheet.
Sony has experienced many leaks in the weeks leading up to gaming’s biggest annual event in previous years, so don’t be surprised if this all turns out to be legit. Do however make sure to lock this report under rumour and speculation until official word from Sony during E3, which takes place June 7-9.
