Popular voice and video call service Skype may be part of Sony’s plans for its PlayStation Vita, despite Microsoft’s acquirement of the software’s developer Skype Limited.

An image from GameGen.com.br said to have been taken during a Sony conference in Brazil showcases services available with the Vita, formerly known as NGP. Accompanying a range of logos, including the PlayStation Network and Wi-Fi, is that of Skype.

It’s unknown when the event was held, but considering the PSVita name was only confirmed by Sony this month during E3, we’re guessing it came after Microsoft’s $8.5 million purchase of Skype Limited.

Depending on Microsoft’s attitude towards the service and whether it will allow Sony to use it for the new handheld console is yet to be revealed, but it certainly would be nice to see Skype on the PSV when it launches.
