Nintendo confirms E3 unveiling, 2012 release for new console

Nintendo announced today that their new console, Project Cafe, will be present and playable at this years E3, and will be release in the 2012 calendar year.

"We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles," the company said this morning. Nintendo did not reveal hardware details or game specifics, only that the console is in development and exists.

Anonymous sources have confirmed that the hardware will be backwards compataible with the current Nintendo Wii and will be more powerful that both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The console will also utilize a new, tablet-shaped controller. It's claimed it will have a 6-inch touch screen display, dual analog sticks, and will posses the ability to stream content directly from the console.
