Crytek has denied recent claims the next Xbox hardware is likely to be announced within the next 12 months and that it has access to said hardware.

Earlier this week a report emerged citing a “high-ranking industry source at Crytek” claimed Microsoft is gearing up for a next generation unveil, potentially at next year’s E3 conference. In a statement to IGN however, the developer denied the speculation straight.

“Relating to the recent rumours, Crytek do not have any next generation hardware from Microsoft, nor do we know when Microsoft may announce future hardware or what that hardware will entail,” it reads.

Additionally it was claimed Crytek is using Microsoft’s DirectX11 as the basis for next generation development, to which the developer also touched upon in its statement.

“Crytek are working at pushing the boundaries of what current technology can bring, including our focus on DX11 which will be released shortly as an update for Crysis 2, and we believe this work, added to our estimations of what the new hardware will provide, set up CryENGINE as a next generation engine for all consoles.”

The report also mentioned development of a new Timesplitters title for the next set of consoles, but that neither confirmed nor denied.
