Microsoft may introduce a new television streaming service to the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live later this year, according to a report from ZDNet.

The site claims to have spoken to a “reliable tipster” who says the service, codenamed Orapa, will bring Xbox Live and Microsoft’s Mediaroom IPTV together for the first time. It’s said to feature different XBL social aspects like avatars and recommendations, and can be controlled with Kinect, via hand gestures or voice.

Platform holder Microsoft “is shooting to get Orapa out by holiday 2011” according to the source, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Speculation that emerged back in November 2011 of a TV service for the console is worth the point out, though.
