The hype surrounding a potential Gears of War title for Kinect has just been turned up, courtesy of Kotaku.

Sources “claiming to be familiar with the project” have told the site that gameplay footage seen in an early concept demo reel features assets and events from Gears of War 2, as seen in the leaked screenshot above.

It’s also suggested that the game will be an on-rails shooter, meaning movement will not be controlled by the player. 

Speculation of a Gears of War Kinect title first emerged back in November last year, with a Gears-related announcement originally set for the Video Game Awards in December, before being called off at the last minute. Developer Epic Games then trademarked a name and logo for a little something called Gears of War: Exile last month. Add it up and, well, we'll leave that one for you to figure out.
