Digital Foundry are reporting that Xbox 360 games could have an extra 1GB to play with thanks to an updated disc format.

The new discs are to be called XBG3 and will see the 1GB of the total 7.95GB on the disc that is dedicated to a DVD-Video partition and anti-piracy measures being scrapped giving developers access to more disc space. With the scrapping of the current anti-piracy measures on the current disc this will also give Microsoft the ability to implement a brand new system to prevent hacking.

Beta testers for the new system will also be given a copy of Halo: Reach built to the new XBG3 spec.
